If you start with the goalies, Trey Augustine and Petteri Rimpinen, either could win the best goalie award. Goaltending isn’t going to be the reason for either of these teams losing. One might be the reason they win.
Finland Plays Their Game
I like Finland’s defense. Julius Miettenen, Aron Kiviharu and Mitja Jokinen have all played solid hockey. The defense provides good zone coverage, physicality and safe puck transporting. The offense is pretty good too, but I feel their backend fuels the team.
USA Has to Cash in With Other Lines
Team USA has the best top line in the tournament. They are expected to get a lot of scoring chances and points. Danny Nelson aside, this would be a good time for Cole Eiserman to get more playing time. You can shelter his appearances on the ice but they need that shot to help keep the Finish defense honest. Max Plante needs to show more on offense as well. The team might need that in tough spots.
Team USA Has The Better Powerplay
This might be the difference in the game. Who cashes in more the this is where Cole Hutson could separate himself from the other top defenseman in this tournament. We shall see.
Prediction:
I think Team USA wins 4-3. I think this will be a very entertaining game.
