I am attempting to shine more light on Jack Murtagh. He’s with the NTDP, and we all know that this year’s team is a step down from some of their recent squads, but that’s not to say there isn’t a lot of talent there.
Murtagh is one of their best this year. That’s not a surprise. Cole McKinney is scoring more and leading the team. I’m not surprised. I was among the few who had him as a first-round talent early on. Back to Murtagh, he’s a talented center or left wing. I haven’t decided which is his dominant position. It’s early in the process.
Early in the year, the New York native played top-six right wing and looked good there. The first thing that stood out to me was his willingness to go to the net. That’s going to help him in his career.
His skating is good and he has a pro one-timer. He plays over 16 minutes a game and he gets his shots on net. Murtagh shoots, and that’s important.
This two-way player is going to continue to rise this draft season. I can feel it. Let’s check in on him later this season.
