NHL Draft Flashback: Flyers Select Denver Barkey

Denver Barkey was an interesting selection by the Flyers. They got him in the third round and my thinking was either this was a steal or he may be a guy who struggles to be the kind of player he is in juniors as he moves up the ladder. Was the offense going to be there?

So far, so good. He’s fourth in the OHL in scoring for London with 81 points, and there’s some season left. At 5’9″ I expect him to end up on the wing down the road. He worked a lot of his skating as the video states, and you can see it when you watch him.

His two-way game is good as well, and that bodes well for him. According to InStat, he’s averaging over 21 minutes a game. He plays in all situations and he has 59% of his shot on goal. He needs to get stronger, but he’s had a great season.
